Story
About Us
In January of 2023, the Lord spoke to then Elder Ja'Len M. Nicholson, revealing a profound need for a place where those hurt, forgotten, and neglected by the church could find solace. There were many who had not yet received salvation and lacked a safe space to meet Jesus. It was through prayer and counsel that Refuge International began, initially as social media Bible study livestreams in September of 2023, led by Elder Ja'Len Nicholson.

By the grace of God, on November 10th, 2023, Elder Ja'Len Nicholson was installed as Pastor. With the ministry officially having a pastor, Pastor Ja'Len Nicholson renamed it to represent both the church and the city it serves: Refuge Church of Detroit.

Through biblical principles, we are dedicated to empowering our community to catalyze transformative Kingdom shifts across the seven mountains of influence. As a non-denominational church that flows apostolic, we strive to be a beacon of hope and transformation in Detroit.
